Requirements

The status of number family will be recognized to:

  • Family units with three or more children.
  • Family units with two children in which at least one of them is disabled or unable to work.
  • Family units with two children, when at least one of the heads of the household is incapacitated for any type of work or both are disabled.
  • The separated or divorced father or mother with three or more children, whether or not they are common, and under their economic dependence.
  • Two or more absolute orphans who live with a guardian, but not at his expense.
  • Three or more absolute orphaned siblings, over 18 years of age, with cohabitation and economic dependence between them.

The large family certificate must be renewed when:

  • The number of members of the family unit varies or the conditions that gave rise to its issuance are modified and this implies a change of category.
  • The disability has been recognised on a temporary basis.
  • In case of obligation to renew the Foreigner Identification Card in case any of the family members had this condition.

The large family certificate must be modified when:

  • Vary the number of members of the family unit.
  • Any of the people who are part of the unit no longer meet the established requirements, provided that these modifications do not involve a change in the category in which the family unit is classified or lead to the extinction of the title.
  • Due to a change of address of the family unit; by birth, death, emancipation; a descendant is 26 years of age or is over 21 years of age and ceases to pursue studies established in art. 14.1 of Decree 74/2024; separation or divorce of the holders, marriage or registered common-law partnership of the holder; any other fact that modifies any circumstance of the family unit.

Recognition can be requested throughout the year.

In the case of renewals due to a change in the number of people in the family unit or due to a change in the conditions that gave rise to the issuance of the certificate and this involves a change of category, it must be submitted within three months of the occurrence of the causal event.

The renewal of a degree due to the end of its validity must be submitted within three months prior to the end of the degree.

Changes in family circumstances that do not involve renewal must also be communicated to the Administration within three months of their occurrence.

When the applicant does not have custody, he or she must provide a document signed by the other parent stating that he or she is aware of the inclusion of the children in the title.
