Procedure for being designated as an authorised laboratory to carry out the analysis of samples taken within the scope of official control and other official activities of the Food Quality Control Programme in Cantabria.
Both public and private laboratories may be designated and may be located both in Cantabria and in another Autonomous Community. Likewise, laboratories may be designated in another Member State of the European Union, in compliance with the provisions of Article 37(2) of Regulation (EU) 2017/625.

Requirements
- Be accredited based on the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 Standard by a national conformity assessment body that acts in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008, which is currently the National Accreditation Entity (ENAC) in Spain.
- Include in the scope of its accreditation all trials for which it is designated, taking into account the possibility of defining the scope of accreditation in a flexible way.
- Participate in the proficiency tests organised by the National Reference Laboratory (LNR), or failing that, the European Union Reference Laboratory (LR-EU), with the test procedures for which they have been designated, in order to demonstrate their technical competence.
- Have the necessary mechanisms in place to ensure efficient and effective coordination and collaboration between the laboratory and the competent authority, as well as between the laboratory and the corresponding National Reference Laboratory (LNR), if any.
- Ensure its impartiality and total absence of conflict of interest with regard to the exercise of its functions as an official laboratory.
- Have the necessary mechanisms in place to guarantee the principles of transparency and confidentiality in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2017/625.
- In the case of private laboratories, have professional civil liability insurance or other equivalent guarantee that covers damage that may be caused in the provision of the service for the health or safety of the recipient or a third party, or for the financial security of the recipient.
