Sports schools for initiation and improvement are the sets of specific programmes, human and material resources, made available to the public by local entities, associations or private clubs for technical-sporting preparation in a given sport.

The recognition and approval of sports schools will correspond to the General Directorate of Sport, following a report from the corresponding sports federation.
Recognition will be understood to have been granted by registration in the Register of Sports Entities of Cantabria.
Municipal and non-municipal sports schools may be created.
In the event of the creation of Municipal Sports Schools, recognition will only require the agreement of the plenary or the governing body determining their creation, in accordance with current local regulations. This agreement will be accompanied by a specific sports programme for initiation and technical-sporting preparation in the corresponding sport.
The creation of private Sports Schools will require the prior presentation, by their promoters, of a private document containing at least the following data:
a) Complete identification of the promoters or founders, including, where appropriate, the status of practicing athletes if they have any.
b) Complete identification of the delegate or person in charge of the Sports School, specifically including the part of their own assets that they voluntarily assign to the School.
c) Identification of the assets assigned to the School and the resources provided for therein.
d) The domicile of the School, which must be located in the territory of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria.
e) Express manifestation of the will of the promoters to constitute the non-profit School, including the purpose or specific object and the name of the same. The name or denomination must necessarily incorporate the terms "Sports School" and must be consistent with the content of the purposes of the sports entity.
f) Express manifestation of submission to the sports regulations of the Autonomous Community and, where appropriate, to those governing the corresponding sports modality or modalities. Likewise, the presentation of a specific programme for initiation and technical-sporting preparation of the corresponding sport will be required, as well as a report on the economic viability of the School to be created.
