Prior to the start of their activities, they must notify the competent environmental body of the Autonomous Community where they are located, of the installation, expansion, substantial modification or transfer of industries or activities that produce hazardous waste, or that generate more than 1,000 tonnes per year of non-hazardous waste.

Requirements
Be an industry or activity located in the Autonomous Community of Cantabria that generates hazardous waste, and/or that generates more than 1,000 tonnes per year of non-hazardous waste.
Companies that have obtained authorisation for waste treatment and that, as a result of their activity, produce waste are exempt from submitting a communication. Likewise, initial waste-producing vessels that deliver waste to receiving port facilities are also exempt from submitting a report.
Companies that produce waste that are excluded from the scope of application of Law 7/2022, of 8 April, on waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy, in accordance with the provisions of sections 2, 3 and 4 of article 3, of the aforementioned Law, do not have to submit a communication.
The obligations arising from their consideration as hazardous waste contained in articles 21, 31 and in title VI will not apply to the separated fractions of household hazardous waste until they have been delivered for treatment at the collection points established by the local entities as provided for in their ordinances in application of the obligation established in article 25.2.
Industries or activities that produce waste subject to the Integrated Environmental Authorisation regime in Cantabria do not have to submit the prior notification of waste-producing activity regulated in this procedure, but the one corresponding to the application for Integrated Environmental Authorisation.
