- In the case of natural persons, they must be in possession of a suitable university degree with accredited professionalism in the field of archaeology. In the case of archaeological research companies, centres or institutions, solvency in the field of archaeology will be necessary.
- In order to apply for authorisation, it will be necessary to comply with the obligation to send to the competent department in matters of Cultural Heritage, in due time and form, the scientific report with the results of the archaeological work carried out.
- Not have been sanctioned by a final resolution for infractions against Cultural Heritage.
- In the case of excavations carried out by foreign researchers or institutions, they must have a Spanish co-director.
